MONTREAL, CANADA - September 19, 2014 - Haivision customer Sky News Arabia was honored as an IBC Innovation Award winner for Project Skynet - a new platform that allows the broadcaster to produce and distribute high-quality, live HD programming and breaking news from anywhere in the world using the public Internet.
Haivision collaborated closely with Sky News Arabia to provide cutting edge encoding technology powered by low latency Makito X encoders for the system. Sky News Arabia can broadcast and transmit live programming and breaking news content which can be accessed and controlled from any of their studios and offices over the Internet. Project Skynet also provides Sky News Arabia with a business continuity and disaster recovery network where they can continue broadcasting even if the main studio is unavailable.

By supporting R&D efforts that push the limits of design, we were able to use our encoding technology to achieve optimal performance and make possible what was previously unheard of.
