Announcing the First Mobile Workflow Server for Creative Profeionals: the ProMAX Platform Portable

From the IBC Show floor today, ProMAX Systems, the manufacturer of Platform modular workflow servers, high-performance ONE editing workstations and Cache-A archival appliances, has announced its latest new product: The Platform Portable. This revolutionary portable server is set to establish an entirely new product category by enabling mobile collaborative workflows for on-set video production and post-production. Platform Portable allows creative groups to connect their existing attached storage devices and transform them into a simple, yet sophisticated, shared editing environment. ProMAX will be demonstrating the Platform Portable's progressive system features, and taking advance orders for the Portable at the ProMAX exhibit booth 7K01a at the IBC Show in Amsterdam, today through September 16th.

Platform Portable enters the market with capabilities unlike any other on-set device with the unique ability to make use of existing attached storage devices to become a powerful shared storage system; and with workflow acceleration features including built in asset management search for groups of up to 6 users. Platform Portable is also the most affordable video optimized shared workflow solution for smaller workgroups, offering a versatile bridge between attached storage and more extensive shared storage systems.

The Platform Portable answers a call for a shared editing system with supreme mobility to effortlessly travel from studio to locations and back. At 18 x 12 x 2.5 it's lightweight and small enough to easily take on a plane, in a car, to anywhere you need to shoot and produce video. Its rugged steel construction, with anti-shock braces, is designed to perform in tough outdoor environments and every Platform Portable comes with a shock absorbent, protective travel bag.

Platform Portable is cross-platform compatible (OSX, Windows, Linux) and supports all common attached storage interfaces including Thunderbolt, USB, FireWire, SAS and eSATA. Portable also reads all common file systems including, HFS+, FAT32, and NTFS. Platform Portable's network connections include up to 6 x 1GbE or 10GbE ports to connect clients, 2 x Onboard Gigabit LAN Controllers, and Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac. Storage expansion ports include 2 x Thunderbolt 2.0 (optional) , 8 x USB 3.0, 4 x USB 2.0, 2 x FireWire 800 (optional), and 2 x eSATA.

ProMAX Platform Portable can be configured with an optional built-in 2TB SSD storage module featuring 2 x 1TB drives in RAID-0 for fast access to media. The Platform Portable base configuration will have an MSRP of around $5,995, before options for network connectivity or onboard storage are added. There are no per seat licensing costs.

Platform Portable's functionality mirrors the merging of production and post processes, blending functions and features to fit the needs of creative teams ranging from DITs, to on-set production groups of D.P.s, editors, graphic artists and animators. For shooting live events and creating packaged content that requires immediate turnaround for Social Media and PR, Platform Portable delivers an incredible collaborative editing experience that also enables finishing projects faster.

In addition to announcing the Platform Portable at IBC, ProMAX is also presenting demos of the new Platform Series 4 workflow servers, the company's new ONE high-performance workstations, and the recently acquired Cache-A archival appliances in exhibit booth 7K01a.
