Appearing as a guest on This Morning, Bear crashed through the studio windows directly onto set as hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford presented the live programme.
Viewers had earlier seen him steer a Zodiac Inflatable Raiding Craft (IRC) up London's River Thames as he was escorted to the studio by Reservists of the Royal Marines Reserve City of London Unit of which Bear is an Honorary Colonel.
In typical style, Bear leapt from the boat, ran up the bank of the River Thames to the building and climbed a rope up the side of the ITV Studios before crashing through the glass directly onto the set (Pictures available from Rex).
Covered in glass and greeting a rather shocked Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, Bear smiled, I know a good glazer! before adding, My heart rate it still a little high after racing down the river, but I like the focus of one chance to do it.
Admitting that he stands by the phrase what doesn't kill you makes you stronger', Bear said, I think as a general principle in life, we come alive when we are challenged and when we come through things.
Surrounded by his family who were watching his arrival, Bear looked over to his sons and said guys, you are the best, thanks for coming'. He continued, I always say to my kids in the wild that you only get it wrong once, you've got to be smart.
Explaining all about his new ITV show [Bear Grylls: Mission Survive, ITV, 9pm Friday 20 February] Bear said, There is no blueprint for a hero. I'm searching for the ultimate survivor - if my kids were stuck in the jungle with no one and I wasn't there, who would I want beside them. And these guys, I took eight celebrities who had never done anything like this before, but I said it's not about where you start, it's about where you finish. And [I said] I will train you, empower you, we'll set you challenges, we'll do this big journey.
He added, Every couple of days I'm sending home the person that I believe would - if we weren't there - then they wouldn't make it out alive. The jungle has every sort of terrain, rivers to the high cliffs, crocodiles, snakes, scorpions, they had to catch their own food, live off the land, and as the journey went on I started to restrict the amount of gear they had. We start off with eight and by the end, only three of them are on the final bit of the journey and ultimately I pick that person who I believe will be the guy or the girl that I'd want beside [me].
Talking about some of the celebrities, Bear revealed, If you spend three months up a mountain with someone, you don't want the egos, you want someone to help you when the chips are down I'm looking for the person who would reach out and carry the person's backpack - but you don't know what people are like until you squeeze them. Dame Kelly Holmes - she was super positive, real, focused, determined Jamelia - she wanted to prove she was made of something kind of stern and she proved it, she's determined, positive Vogue Williams - she's very bright, resourceful and liked being challenged Mike Tindall - he is the ultimate team player, a humble, hard-working guy but that's only one part of it. It's a real mental battle.

NOTE TO EDITORS:
Bear Grylls: Mission Survive is a new six-part adrenalin-fuelled series for ITV in which the adventurer takes eight celebrities into the depths of one of the most unforgiving Central American rainforests, where they will be competing in an epic 12-day survival mission.
The celebrity expedition team will be pushed to their physical and emotional limits. Issued daily mission briefings by Bear, they will have to navigate treacherous obstacles and journey through dangerous dense jungle, testing their ability to adapt, improvise and overcome in one of the world's most hostile environments.
Joining Bear are actors, and cousins, Emilia Fox and Laurence Fox, singer and actor Max George, double Olympic champion Dame Kelly Holmes, TV presenter and singer Jamelia, comedy actor Tom Rosenthal, DJ, model and presenter Vogue Williams and Former England International Rugby Player Mike Tindall MBE.
Testing the celebrities at every turn on the fundamental principles of survival: shelter, water, fire and food, the celebrities have to abseil down ferocious waterfalls, cross perilous rapids, trudge through swamps and negotiate razor-sharp vines - not to mention contending with scorpions, snakes and sand flies.
Bear will guide the celebrities on their punishing assignments, sharing with them his expertise, mindset and skills. He will also be assisted on the ground by his much trusted right-hand colleagues, expedition and survival experts Megan Hine and Scott Heffield.
Meg and Scott will be Bear's eyes and ears throughout, observing the progress of the famous faces as they advance through the jungle. They will help inform Bear on how the celebrities are coping so he can best decide who should be eliminated and who should continue.
However it's not just survival of the fittest, Bear is looking for unique qualities that aren t always most apparent: the team player who can also work alone, the quick-thinker who can work under extreme pressure and can also plan ahead, the leader who is able to take advice from those around them and the quiet hero who shoulders the burden wh
