WRAL Launches New Weather Alert App

The Triangle had threats of severe weather last week as a cold front came in to meet the stretch of our first warm days of the spring, and WRAL was ready to help alert viewers of possible severe weather in their area with a new app. WRAL recently launched the WRAL Weather Alert app.

The WRAL Weather Alert uses your phone's GPS to track your location and alert you when you are in the path of severe weather. There's no need to enter your home or work address. Just keep your phone turned on and nearby.

The app features the voice of WRAL-TV Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel delivering details about the threat facing you, no matter where you go in the United States.

WRAL's WeatherCall

The new app uses the same precise National Weather Service Warnings as WRAL's WeatherCall does. WRAL's WeatherCall is a personalized severe weather warning service from WRAL-TV. When you sign up, you give us the address of your home, business, or childs school. Whenever severe weather threatens that address, you will get a call from Greg Fishel, telling you about the threat and what to do to prepare. This is a subscription service that costs $8 a year. Email Alerts

And a final way to get severe weather alerts: email. Get an email or text alert when severe weather threatens any of North Carolinas 100 counties. Its free, fast and reliable. Emails include specifics about where the storms have been, damage caused and where they are headed. Sign up now.
