Da der Bahnsektor hierf r eine Schl sselrolle einnimmt, ist die Branche f r Schaeffler von strategischer Bedeutung. Wir haben die Weichen entsprechend gestellt, um an den gro en Trends der Zukunft zu partizipieren , so Dr. Michael Holzapfel, Leitung des Branchenmanagements Bahn bei Schaeffler. Das gilt f r den Hochgeschwindigkeitsverkehr ebenso wie f r den G tertransport und den Nahverkehr. Gleichzeitig haben wir uns auf die globalen Wachstumsm rkte ausgerichtet und sind in allen relevanten M rkten mit Beratung, Engineering und Produktion vor Ort, wo der Kunde uns braucht.
Michael Holzapfel sieht dabei einen klaren Trend in Richtung Lifecycle Management - dem Motto des Messe-Auftritts von Schaeffler auf der InnoTrans 2014: Die Betrachtung der Lebenszykluskosten von Produkten gewinnt zunehmend an Bedeutung. Deshalb ist es wichtig, sichere, zuverl ssige und langlebige Produkte zu entwickeln und herzustellen, die auf die gesamte Lebensdauer wirtschaftlich betrieben werden k nnen. Um Lebenszykluskosten zu optimieren sind zudem L sungen gefragt, die Wartungsintervalle verl ngern ohne dabei die Produktzuverl ssigkeit zu reduzieren, Aufwand gering halten und eine vorbeugende Instandhaltung erm glichen. Schaeffler bietet dies z.B. ber verbesserte Dichtungen, intelligente Nachschmiereinheiten oder innovative mechatronische Systeme. Dabei bildet das Know-how von Schaeffler in mechanischen Komponenten stets die Basis.
Die Komponente W lzlager selbst wird dabei mit zahlreichen integrierten Funktionen immer weiter zum mechatronischen System. Hierin liegt ein weiterer Trend, denn die Mechatronik wird neue M glichkeiten bieten, durch erh hte Funktionalit t die Wirtschaftlichkeit und Zuverl ssigkeit von Schienenfahrzeugen weiter zu steigern. So unter anderem durch W lzlager mit integrierten Sensoren, die der Datengenerierung ber Fahrzust nde und deren Auswertung dienen.
Zum 1. Mai 2014 bernahm Dr. Michael Holzapfel (46) die Leitung des Branchenmanagements Bahn bei Schaeffler. Nach seinem Maschinenbaustudium an der RWTH Aachen promovierte er ber die Dynamik von Schienenfahrzeugantrieben. Nach seinem Einstieg bei Voith Turbo bernahm er bald F hrungsaufgaben und war dort zuletzt als Technikleiter f r mechanische Bahnantriebe t tig.
