The Rio Film Commiion Convenes Event to Strengen Working Relationships with Partners

On September 16th, at the Rio Art Museum MAR, the Rio Film Commission (RFC) held an event entitled "The Rio Film Commission s strategic relations with the public sector and other partners ". The audience consisted of government officials from a wide spectrum of government agencies and departments, as well as partner institutions.

The objective of the gathering was to explain the functions and basic objectives of the Rio Film Commission, and to create awareness about the importance of maintaining a solid working relationship with city and state officials in order to facilitate permit issuing and other logistical issues to ensure that Rio is perceived as Film Friendly to audiovisual productions originating from within Brasil and abroad.

The event was inaugurated by remarks by Felipe Lopes, Audiovisual Superintendent of the State Secretariat of Culture and Mariana Ribas, Commercial Director of RioFilme, who explained their relationship to the RFC and stressed the importance of working together with the Rio Film Commission in a variety of forms. They explained that the RFC is sponsored by the City of Rio de Janeiro, through RioFilme, and operated by SICAV - Interstate Association of Audiovisual Industry. Through a cooperation agreement with the Rio de Janeiro State Secretary of Culture, the RFC scope of operations includes the entire state.

The event included a series of speakers on topics relevant to RFC operations and interface with public and private-sector entities: Silvia Rabelo, President of the Interstate Association of Audiovisual Industry SICAV; Mariana Ribas, Commercial Director of RioFilme, inforced the importance of support from RioFilme; Steve Solot, President of the Rio Film Commission; Eduardo Valente, International Advisor of Ancine; Cristiano Prado, Director of Competitive Practices and Investment of Firjan and Leonardo Edde, film producer and partner of Urca Films.

The new RFC staff was introduced and explained each of their respective areas of expertise and responsibility: Fernanda Toledo, Production and Outreach Coordinator, Tania Pinta, Production Manager and Myllena Oliveira, Administrative and Financial Manager.

Paulo Senise, Director of the Rio Convention & Visitors Bureau showed an impressive video and emphasized the close and natural relationship of cinema and tourism. Claudio Magnavita Castro, State Secretary of Tourism, also attended the event and expressed interest in building partnerships with the Rio Film Commission.
