IBC 2026 demonstrations highlight automated monitoring for increasingly complex IP-based media workflow

Cleveland, Ohio (September 3, 2026) - Telos Alliance will demonstrate new audio observability capabilities at IBC 2026, highlighting a growing focus across its Media Solutions portfolio on helping broadcasters and media organizations monitor the health, quality, format, and metadata of audio as workflows become increasingly software-defined

In modern IP-based media environments, audio can be routed, processed, transformed, and repurposed through numerous applications and services before it reaches an audience. Many of those paths are created dynamically, and there may be no engineer listening at any individual point along the way. Audio observability extends monitoring into that environment by continuously examining audio and the information associated with it. Rather than relying solely on manual checks, systems can automatically verify attributes such as format, signal health, metadata, compliance, and speech intelligibility across large numbers of audio flows.

The concept is becoming increasingly important as media organizations move toward larger and more complex IP-based distributed, cloud-based, and dynamically orchestrated production and delivery environments. Add to that MXL, multiple codecs, the variety of essence containers in which audio is wrapped,and the resulting complexity does not scale for human monitoring. Telos Alliance sees automated, professional-grade audio analysis as an essential part of system-wide visibility and control.

As media workflows become more software-defined, we have to rethink what monitoring means, said John Schur, President of Media Solutions at Telos Alliance. You may have hundreds or thousands of audio flows moving through an infrastructure, and nobody can listen to all of them. The goal of observability is to give engineers useful information about what is happening across the environment, automatically and at scale, so they can identify problems before they reach the audience. We believe observability can and should become part of the workflow itself, providing continuous information for use by both operators and automated systems.
