Our very own LA Creative Specialist, Mariana Acu a Acosta will be hosting 4 FREE Training sessions at this years VES Career Fair in LA on Tuesday 23rd April 2013.

Mariana has 10 years of professional experience in the Film Industry having worked in many different studios as a Digital Compositor in over 28+ movies and episodic TV shows. A year and a half ago Mariana joined The Foundry as a Creative Specialist based in our LA office which means she knows all of our products inside out! Join Mariana as she will show you Deep Compositing using NUKE and also an Introduction to MARI 2.0.

Workshop Information: Mari 2.0 We will take a look at some of the powerful new features available in MARI 2.0, there are a number of workflow-enhancing tools, features, and interface updates that have been added, we will start by learning how every channel is now a full non-destructive layer stack, how Shaders use layered channels to control every aspect of the surface look including diffuse, displacement and specularity. Well talk about the fully updated .PSD support and how Mari 2.0 now works seamlessly with Photoshop and other paint software.

We will also cover the difference between the old workflow channels and shader modules, vs. the new workflow channels-layers and just one shader stack. Finally well cover adjustement layers, adjustment stacks, procedural layers, masks, and how to share channels as layers and vice versa.

What is Deep Compositing? We will start by talking about what Deep Comp is, how it started, who is using it and why, we will cover how deep images try to solve how data is stored and referenced to avoid issues like edge aliasing, then we will go on to how to create Deep Images given the fact that compression is a huge issue, and file sizes can become unmanageable. Reading Deep Images Pixars deep shadows and the dtex library, and what will happen now with Open EXR 2.0 Compositing operations, deep merge, deep crop, deep Recolor, deep hold out, deep Color Correct, deep to Points. We will finish by talking about who is using deep and why it hasnt been hugely adopted yet.
