SA Masterclass Series aims to raise the bar in local TV and animation --

South African television and animated content as well as the preparation and distribution of original IP content will be a focus for the next Masterclass Series, presented by Binary Film Works, Pollen Creative Media and Zeropoint Studios. International experts will take part in the workshops, which take place in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban.

The initiative stemmed from a three-day workshop in Writing the TV Drama Series hosted by Natasje van Niekerk and presented by Pamela Douglas, an international published author on serial television. Writers, producers and broadcasters who attended the workshop responded positively and outlined the need for further initiatives.

The Masterclass Series aims to benefit all content creators and producers including writers, creatives and studio owners.

Pamela Douglas will return to build on 2013 s insightful and educational workshop. Writing the TV Drama Series and The Future of TV will be a repeat of the previous workshop and a follow on based on her new book by the same title.

Award winning Canadian writer and story editor Clive Endersby will present Making Magic, a two-day workshop on writing serial TV with specific attention to greater skill around writing for childrens animated series, and keeping an audience engaged.

Emmy-nominated writer and director Mike de Seve (Over the Hedge) will present a Writing and Directing workshop on writing and directing specifically for animation long and short form.

Johannesburg - 12, 13 November

Cape Town - 15, 16 November

Ticket prices: R4200 per two-day workshop

Justine Bannister, an international TV consultant, will present The Real Buzz, a session which will cover: Creating Brand and Integrated Marketing Thinking; Out on the Front line: Pitching and The Pitch Bible; Where is the money? Brand Building; Buzz and Awareness: Gaming, Online, Additional Content, Licensing and Publishing. This vast and valuable skill set has been accrued with international majors, independents, broadcasters and start-ups including 20th Century Fox, Lagard re, Mediatoon, TV Loonland, Disney and PGS Entertainment.

Cape Town - 29, 30 November in collaboration with Kunjanimation
