Dave Gorman fires up the laptop and big screen for his fifth series examining modern life

Dave Gorman Modern Life Is Goodish will return to Dave for fifth series, starting 31st October.

Thursday 19th October Ratings and critical hit, Dave Gorman Modern Life Is Goodish will return to Dave for a fifth series, starting at 10pm on 31st October. After attracting a peak of 1.5 million viewers and regularly receiving a total audience of over a million per episode in series four, the show is one of UKTVs most successful original commissions.

Armed with a computer, clicker and checked shirt, Dave Gorman continues to cast an eye over modern life in his own unique style combining stand-up, visual storytelling, and real-world experimentation. In these eight new mischievous comedy performances, Dave once again turns his attention to the areas of everyday life we normally take for granted- scrutinising the absurdities and contradictions that continue to fascinate and infuriate him.

In this series Dave takes to fatherhood in his usual spirit: playing tricks with singing toys, interrogating childrens TV characters, and messing with modern Monopoly. What does the term generation really mean? Why does his Mum use emojis? Are Life Hacks really any help at all? All these questions and more, will be answered. Sort of. Along the way, Dave tests the merits of man versus machine, in all its life-like glory. Plus, he finds himself in a lucrative but compromising situation. Of course, no Modern Life Is Goodish would be complete without our host sifting through the bottom half of the internet for those real words by real people; digging out the ridiculous, opinionated and downright maddest reader comments to be found on the most frenzy-inducing newspaper articles for, what Dave likes to call, a Found Poem.

The new run of Dave Gorman Modern Life Is Goodish follows further hugely successful returning commissions for Dave - series five of Taskmaster, Red Dwarf XII and a second series of Zapped. The channel continues to increase its UKTV Original shows across the schedule with brand new Porters, The Joy of Techs, and Eat Your Heart Out with Nick Helm, while Jason Byrnes new show Dont Say It, Bring It and Ross Noble: Off Road are still to come later this year. Dave is also showing more live sport, committing to bring five live boxing matches to free television over the next year, in partnership with David Haye and Richard Schaefers Hayemaker Ringstar.
