Cinec Awards Honor ARRI AMIRA and ARRI/ZEI Master Anamorphics

ARRI was honored with two major awards at the 2014 Cinec show in Munich on September 22. The ARRI AMIRA documentary style camera and ARRI/ZEISS Master Anamorphic lenses both garnered Cinec statuettes. The awards were presented by the Society of CineTechnik Bayern e.V. (CTB, formerly Bavarian Society for the Advancement of Film Technology), and awarded to innovative products and developments in motion picture technology.

Cinec Award Recipients

ARRI has been awarded for its documentary-style camera AMIRA in the category Camera Technology / New Digital Capturing Tools and for the seven ARRI/ZEISS Master Anamorphic lenses in the category Optics. The awards were presented by Ilse Aigner, Bavarian Minister of economy, media, energy and technology, and also Deputy Minister-President.

The ARRI AMIRA combines exceptional image quality and affordable workflows with ergonomic design optimized for single operators and shoulder-mounted operation. Upon accepting the award, AMIRA Product Manager Markus Duerr said, AMIRA cameras are already at work on a huge variety of productions worldwide, which is an amazing start. Like ALEXA, AMIRA will evolve in response to market changes and customer requirements. For AMIRA and those that choose to shoot with AMIRA, the journey has only just begun.

The ARRI/ZEISS Master Anamorphics were honored for their exceptional optical design and striking cinematic imagery.

Matthias Pesch, Technical Lead Optical Systems, accepted the award with the following statement:

The Master Anamorphics will open up new creative possibilities to cinematographers and we are excited to see the beautiful images coming from the first productions using these lenses.

Upcoming films like A MOST VIOLENT YEAR (Dir. JC Chandor, DP Bradford Young) and SPECTRAL (Dir. Nic Mathiew, DP Bojan Bozelli) recently chose the Master Anamorphics to expand the cinematic canvas.

Cinec 2014, the 10th International Trade Fair for Cine Equipment and Technology, was held at the MOC Events Center in Munich from September 21 to 23. ARRI showcased its latest advances at the show, including the new Lens Data Encoder LDE-1, AMIRA, Ultra Wide Zoom UWZ-1, updates for ALEXA and Wireless Compact Unit WCU-4, L5 LED Fresnel and the popular Caster series.

ARRI also presented several workshops for industry professionals including Shoot ALEXA, Deliver Anything, Lighting Design with LEDs and Close-Up on AMIRA.
