SAMCAP Offers Financing Solutions for Film and TV

Bridge / Interim financing

Bridge/Interim financing precedes primary production, with a loan made available by a recognized lender. Delays in receiving cash flow may causes producers and directors to run the risk of losing actors and other essential components of their productions. SAMCAP can offer bridge finance in order to keep productions afloat until the clients' main bank loan is finalized and paid out.

Rebate financing

Rebates are incentives offered by the South African government through the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The incentives consist of Foreign Film and Television Production and Post-Production incentive to attract foreign-based film productions to shoot on location in South Africa and conduct post-production activities, and the South African Film and Television Production and Co-Production incentive, which aims to assist local film producers in the production of local content. The DTI provides a tax-free rebate of up to 25% of the Qualifying South African Production Expenditure (QSAPE) and Qualifying South African Post- Production Expenditure (QSAPPE). Gap financing

Gap Finance consists of loans made against prospective distribution rights, usually international rights. This finance compensates ahead of other segments of finance. SAMCAP can arrange gap finance of 5-35% of a film's production budget depending on the cast attached and/or international pre-sales.
