Canon adds to its EOS Cinema 4K range new C00 Camera

Canon adds to its EOS Cinema 4K range new C200 Camera Compatible with the new Cinema RAW Light recording format, the C200 EOS offers the same flexibility in the gradation of color than the RAW film, but in a smaller file size, which will enable the filmmakers record internally in a 2.0 CFast card.

Canon the new C200 Camera has joined its EOS Cinema 4 K range. Being the first camera EOS movies compatible with the new Cinema RAW Light recording format, the C200 EOS offers the same flexibility in the gradation of color than the RAW film, but in a smaller file size, which will enable the filmmakers record internally in a 2.0 CFast card.

New Canon Dual DIGIC DV6 processors provide the ability to record internally UHD/50 p MP4 4K, 4 K DCI RAW and continuous high speed recording (HFR) at 120 fps, Full HD, without clipping. At the same time, advances in Dual Pixel CMOS AF auto focus technology and a new LCD touch screen provide smooth operation of AF and a monitoring of the effective subject.

Super 35 mm 4K Canon CMOS

The C200 EOS incorporates a CMOS sensor Super 35 mm 4K Canon with a number of effective pixels of 8.85 megapixels, along with new processors Dual DIGIC DV6. Therefore, it allows Cinema RAW Light recordings, to 4 K DCI 50 p, internally, in a 2.0 CFast card. Also you can record 4 K UHD to 150 Mbps and 2 K or Full HD 35 Mbps SD cards in MP4 format.

With a dynamic range of up to 15 steps with Cinema RAW Light and up to 13 steps of dynamic range in MP4 (Canon Log and Canon Log 3), the camera is perfect for capturing the details in highlights and shadows.

The C200 EOS is also capable of recording both slow and fast, at up to 120 fps, without clipping, in Full HD/MP4, ideal for those who want creative recordings in slow motion. On the other hand, the built-in neutral density (ND) optical filters, of up to 10 steps, provide greater flexibility and convenience, enabling filmmakers to record with lots of light and extend the depth of field control.

Compact and lightweight

The EOS C200 has an advanced AF system that provides reliability and precision when recording in 4 K, as well as a LCD touch screen so that the filmmakers can easily select the subject. For those needing to switch effortlessly between several subjects in a scene, the Dual Pixel CMOS AF allows continuous AF operation, while the help function to the Manual focus and options of face detection with face and only the face priority offer greater control of the creative approach.

The C200 EOS, only 1.4 kilos, light body is designed for a comfortable recording with camera in hand, an advantage for those who record for long periods. The compact size also makes it suitable for mounting it on a drone or a gimbal, either.

Built-in Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections allow remote via a browser and transfer files via FTP, while the camera compatibility options assume that current, and new accessories including the electronic viewfinder in Canon, the EVF-V70 can be used.

RAW Light cinema, for next generation workflows

Canon has worked with various partners to ensure the integration of Cinema RAW Light with various software programs. As a result, the Edition and the gradation of Cinema RAW Light video format will be compatible with Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve. The editing will be possible with Media Composer from Avid Technology, using the Canon RAW Plugin for Avid Media Access. This format can also be processed using a Canon, Cinema RAW Development application.

Support for Cinema RAW Light is also planned for EDIUS Pro, the Grass Valley editing software, for 2017. Also, a future version of Final Cut Pro X from Apple Inc. will be compatible with Cinema RAW Light of Canon, with the Canon RAW Plugin for Final Cut Pro X.

The Canon XF-AVC video format will be available with a future firmware update. This update will be free and their availability is expected in the first half of 2018.
