JAMIE GRIFFIN OF FULL CHANNEL IS SCTE IP CHALLENGE CHAMPION FOR 2014

SEPT. 23, 2014 (Denver, CO) Promoting engineering excellence through competition, the 2014 SCTE IP Challenge concluded Monday evening at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2014 in Denver with Jamie Griffin of Full Channel Inc. prevailing over eight other contestants to become this year's champion, the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) announced today.

Griffin, of Barrington, R.I., is director of technology with Full Channel. He has been an SCTE member since 2009.

Sponsored by Cisco, SCTE IP Challenge 2014 began with virtual qualifying rounds conducted in recent months leading up to Monday evening's live finals competition at Expo. The finals provided the nine finalists with an opportunity to compete in a blended-style Jeopardy match that included traditional questions, router and CMTS configuration, and hands-on activities.

The SCTE IP Challenge was created to drive awareness among the SCTE membership of the importance of foundational Internet Protocol (IP) knowledge. The event, now in its fourth year, has served to promote interest around the benefits of IP to the cable industry.

"SCTE thanks Cisco for sponsoring such spirited competition this evening in Denver and throughout the 2014 SCTE IP Challenge season," said SCTE Senior Director of Advanced Network Technologies Steve Harris. "We look forward to another fine IP Challenge in 2015 and anticipate a record level of participation."

The eight other finalists who qualified for and competed at this year's Expo were Kenneth Corbett of Charter Communications, Robert Greenland of Suddenlink Communications, Brian Hamrick of Comcast Cable, John Holt of Time Warner Cable, Mark McNiff of Comcast Cable, Chris Miranda of Comcast Cable, Brian Parker of Charter Communications, and Younes Zarrouki of Comcast Cable.

Dates for next year's virtual qualifying rounds are expected to be announced in the near future.
