The National Film and Video Foundation and Traffic Events and Entertainment host Solomon Plaatjie Film Festival

30 March 2016: Traffic Events and Entertainment supported by the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), and the Northern Cape Province department of Sports Arts and Culture, will host the Solomon Plaatjie Film Festival on the 1st and 2nd of April 2016 at the Mayibuye Cultural Centre in Kimberley.

The two (2) day film festival will consists of workshops and FREE local film screenings. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will deliver a presentation on Emerging Black Filmmaker's film production incentives. The presentation will highlight what funding mechanisms are available from the DTI and the requirements to access funding from the institution.

The NFVF will also host a series of workshops to explain the types of funding from the agency and also explore the careers available in the film industry. Growing Film in The Northern Cape Province should be continuos and at the end of the festival celebrating African Cinema should be a big winner; a big thank you to the NFVF for making this a reality, says Lesego Mphake (Festival Director).

The festival will feature a number of film screenings hosted and facilitated by renowned filmmaker and actor Akin Omotoso. His film Tell me sweet something will also form part of the films to be screened during the festival including Inumber number and Four Corners.
