Irdeto Revenue Assurance supports Premier League with detection, investigation and enforcement services for new season, further supporting fight against piracy
Irdeto, the world leader in Multiscreen, Media Protection and Revenue Assurance solutions, today announced its work with the Barclays Premier League, the most watched football league in the world, to support the leagues continued efforts to tackle the illegal redistribution of set-top boxes capable of receiving illegal content streamed over the Internet (IPTV STBs).
Engaging Irdeto for the 2014/15 season provides the Premier League with access to in-depth knowledge of the piracy landscape combined with global investigative and security expertise. The Premier League is already involved in extensive work to protect its intellectual property and Irdetos service will add another dimension to its existing provisions in this area.
The rise of illegal redistribution of sports content on IPTV STBs is an emerging threat for the Premier League and its licensees. Through its work with Irdeto, the Premier League is proactively addressing both the cause and effect of this type of piracy by not only closing down the illegal redistribution of Premier League content, but by tackling the proliferation of devices that make it accessible.
Premier League Chief Executive, Richard Scudamore, said: It is only through legitimate investment in our broadcasting rights that we can put on a high quality football competition, and support and invest in all levels of English football and beyond.
Piracy threatens that model and we are confident that our partnership with Irdeto who have a proven track record in this area - will allow us to evolve and improve the way we guard against that threat for years to come.

The aim of our work together is to ensure that legal access to the Premier League remains the best way for consumers to enjoy the finest football in the world.
Detection, Enforcement, Watermarking and Investigation services are all part of the Irdeto Piracy Control service, a pillar in its Revenue Assurance suite that protects a provider's content, brand and bottom line against new and emerging threats. The flexible approach of these services allows operators to use a combination of services and technologies to provide the most comprehensive end-to-end anti-piracy solution in the market.
