Karlsruhe, Juni 2010 - Auf der PATINFO 2010, dem 32. Kolloquium der TU Ilmenau ber Patentinformation und gewerblichen Rechtsschutz am 10. und 11. Juni in Ilmenau, sprechen Dr. Christiane Emmerich, Produktmanagerin Patentinformation von FIZ Karlsruhe, und Dipl.-Ing. Elke Thom , Schulungsleiterin am PATON Landespatentzentrum Th ringen, ber Patentfamilien bei STN International, dem im Bereich der Chemie- und Patentinformation weltweit f hrenden Online-Service. Eine Patentfamilie umfasst alle weltweit von verschiedenen Patentbeh rden publizierten Schutzrechtsschriften, die sich auf die gleiche Erfindung beziehen und die gleiche Priorit t beanspruchen.
Emmerich erkl rt dazu: "Patentfamilien-Information ist f r unternehmenskritische Fragen und Entscheidungen in forschenden Firmen und Organisationen von gro er Bedeutung. Patentfamilien geben wichtige Hinweise, in welchen L ndern Wettbewerber aktiv sind. Oder umgekehrt: welche M rkte gutes Erschlie ungspotenzial haben, weil dort noch keine direkt vergleichbaren patentgesch tzten Produkte angeboten werden." Bei der allt glichen Beobachtung des internationalen Patentgeschehens und der Auswertung diesbez glicher Recherchen, so Emmerich weiter, erleichtern die zusammengefassten Schutzrechtsinformationen die Arbeit von Patentrechercheuren und er ffnen ihnen neue Wege zur gesuchten Information. "Zu nationalen asiatischen Patentanmeldungen in der Landessprache gibt es oft in anderen L ndern in englischer Sprache angemeldete Familienmitglieder, so dass die Sprachbarriere der Erstanmeldung keine H rde mehr darstellt", erl utert die Patentinformationsspezialistin.
Bei STN werden Familiendaten hoher Qualit t und Vollst ndigkeit in drei speziellen Datenbanken mit internationaler Abdeckung angeboten: in den INPADOC-Datenbanken, im Derwent World Patents Index von Thomson Reuters und in CAplus von Chemical Abstracts Service. Die INPADOC-Daten vom Europ ischen Patentamt werden von FIZ Karlsruhe einer zus tzlichen Qualit tskontrolle unterzogen und aufgewertet. Der Vortrag findet am Freitag, 11. Juni, im Nachmittagsblock ab 14.35 Uhr statt.
Vor der Konferenz werden am Donnerstagvormittag von 9.00 bis 11.00 Uhr Workshops durchgef hrt, die f r Konferenzteilnehmer kostenlos sind. FIZ Karlsruhe stellt hier " berwachungsrecherchen in Patentdatenbanken auf STN" vor. Solche Recherchen sind in besonderer Weise geeignet, aktuelle Informationen ber bestimmte Technologiegebiete, Erfinder oder Firmen zu gewinnen und neue Forschungstrends zu erkennen. Der Workshop gibt einen berblick ber Funktionalit ten von STN, mit denen berwachungsrecherchen effektiv eingerichtet und durchgef hrt werden k nnen.

Seit ber drei Jahrzehnten ist die PATINFO 2010 eine bedeutende B hne f r den Erfahrungsaustausch zwischen Patentanw lten, Patentfachleuten, Technikern, Wissenschaftlern, Datenbankanbietern, Patentdienstleistern und Informationsvermittlern sowie Vertreterinnen und Vertretern von mtern und Einrichtungen des gewerblichen Rechtsschutzes. Im Rahmen der Konferenz thematisieren und diskutieren sie aus ihren unterschiedlichen Blickwinkeln aktuelle Fragen zu nationalen, europ ischen und internationalen Entwicklungen im Patent- und Gebrauchsmusterbereich. Ausgerichtet wird die Veranstaltung vom PATON Landespatentzentrum an der TU Ilmenau unter der Leitung von Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Reinhard Schramm, der nach seiner Emeritierung in diesem Jahr zum letzten Mal die Verantwortung f r die PATINFO tr gt.
