Telekom Slovenije launches the Broadband Internet Access via Satellite service Ljubljana, 19 July Since Friday 19 July Telekom Slovenije offers its users the possibility of broadband Internet Access via Satellite. The service is aimed at residents from those locations where the provision of Internet Broadband Services was previously impossible. The majority of such areas are located in the Slovenian countryside; however, the service is also available in urban areas. Telekom Slovenije offers Internet Access via Satellite through the satellite connection owned by the company Eutelsat.

The Internet via Satellite offer provides users with a reliable performance, stable speed and simple installation of equipment. It is offered to users in both urban, as well as rural areas, while it will be most welcomed by residents from locations where provision of the broadband internet via terrestrial connections (e.g. copper wires, optical fibres) or mobile signal (3G or 4G) is not possible.

Telekom Slovenije prepared three different Internet Access via Satellite bundles, which provide users with different bitrates and include specific quantities of data transfer. Users can select among the following bundles: Internet 8 Mbps/2 Mbps with a monthly subscription of 32 euros, including 8 GB of data transfer (with the bitrate of 8 Mb/s downstream and 2 Mb/s upstream); Internet 12 Mbps/4 Mbps with a monthly subscription of 46 euros, including 16 GB of data transfer; Internet 18 Mbps/6 Mbps with a monthly subscription of 99 euros, including 50 GB of data transfer.

Users can also purchase additional data transfer for their respective bundle bitrate; each additional 1 GB of data transfer costs 12 euros.

Internet Access via Satellite requires a satellite dish or antenna of 70 cm diameter, a signal receiver-transmitter and a modem. Installation is done by professionally trained servicemen of Telekom Slovenije and the company GVO. If the user concludes a subscription for a 24 months' lock-in period the equipment (manufactured by Tooway) becomes the property of the subscriber. New activation is charged in the amount of 46 euros, while the setting up the connection (including installation) amounts to 99 euros. All the above-listed prices include VAT.

Users can subscribe to Internet Access via Satellite at Telekom centres, while they can arrange further details of bundles by dialling 080 1000 (Telekom Slovenije Customer Support Centre).
