Leader Instruments scores awards hat-trick at NAB 2013 19 Apr 2013

Leader Instruments Corporation reports an outstandingly successful NAB 2013 show, winning two awards for its new LV5490 SD to 4K multi-standard multi-waveform monitor. An additional award was won by UK-based co-exhibitor Eyeheight which Leader represents as main distributor in the Americas.

The Leader LV5490 received a Black Diamond award from Digital Video magazine plus and 2013 STAR award from TV Technology, states George Gonos, president of Leader Instruments Corporation. Both accolades are tributes to the innovative skill of the Leader design team for anticipating and meeting the demands of production crews gearing for tomorrows ultra-high-definition cinema and domestic television viewers.

4K was the buzz of the entire NAB show this year, to an extent that has surprised even the most seasoned industry observers. From its inception as a capture medium for high-end digital cinematography, 4K is attracting increasing interest among broadcasters. It offers the twin advantages of very high image quality plus the ability to make digital zoom selections during live transmission or post production for delivery to 1920 x 1080 channels. Used in this way, 4K becomes the video equivalent of audio oversampling, offering unsurpassed creative potential.

We had the additional gratification of hosting a Pick Hit award bestowed by Broadcast Engineering magazine on Eyeheights new LEGAL-6 multi-rate video and audio logging legalizer. Receiving awards from three highly respected industry publications at one booth during an NAB show is unusual and maybe not far short of unique.

Leaders LV5490 is a versatile waveform monitor supporting the full range of standard video production and transmission resolutions from 525 and 625 standard definition up to 3840 x 2160 and 4096 x 2160 4K. It incorporates a high-definition 1920 x 1080 9 inch LCD monitor with a wide viewing angle and high quality colorimetry. This allows simultaneous analysis of up to four video channels. The instrument also doubles as a high quality picture monitor for production crews working on location. Its 4K capability is designed for production staff working with latest generation cameras, whether for digital cinematography or high-end broadcast applications.
