Durban Film Office launches location SCOUT programme --

On 9 October from 09h00 to 16h00 the Durban Film Office (DFO) will launch its first location scouting mentorship and development programme, SCOUT, with a Locations Scouting Workshop held at the Botanical Gardens in Durban.

The initiative is geared at introducing filmmakers to the art of location scouting and Durban as a diverse and ideal location for productions. DFO maintains that location scouts play a vital role in a film crew, and an important link to local and international production companies interested in filming in the region.

The programme s objective is to fulfil the need for developing young talent in the field of location scouting. The workshop serves as an introduction to the overall programme, which aims to expose filmmakers to opportunities within the field and to educate them on what is expected in the business of location scouting.

With only 50 seats available interested filmmakers are encouraged to book their place through the DFO.

Toni Monty, who heads DFO says, We are so excited about this new programme. Durban is such a robust and diverse location, the need to find more location scouts is crucial in promoting Durban in filmmaking and actively putting our city in the spotlight, locally and internationally. This workshop promises to expose filmmakers to the art of location scouting and introduce them to the exciting role they play in the modern film industry.
