Football brings people together and teaches children teamwork Ljubljana, 15 May Football is a sport which unites generations in common enthusiasm. It teaches young footballers of both genders sportsmanlike conduct and is an excellent way for them to spend their free time. At the same time, it offers older people the opportunity to get together and have a good time. These ideas also form the heart of the SiOL Cup project, the country-wide futsal tournament which is in full swing this year from April to May in cities all around Slovenia. Telekom Slovenije will be working with the Association of Friends of Youth of Ljubljana Moste-Polje and the Football Association of Slovenia to emphasize the project's extremely socially responsible goal of helping disadvantaged children from the Big Brother Big Sister program spend a wonderful summer at the Football Camp in Kranjska Gora, which is open to children from all over the country. Both the competitors and the fans at the SiOL Cup support this project with their attendance and participation.

According to the Slovenian Association of Friends of Youth, more than half of Slovenian parents cannot afford to send their children anywhere for summer vacation, as their salaries do not even provide enough to buy school lunches (that number was hovering around 42% according to latest survey results). Slovenia's Big Brother Big Sister program, under the auspices of the Association of Friends of Youth of Ljubljana Moste-Polje, provides help to socially disadvantaged children and young adults. The funds raised as part of the Big Brother Big Sister project go largely to cover the basic needs of socially disadvantaged children. There are currently 2210 children in the program, of whom around 200 are still waiting for their sponsor (there are currently 2280 active sponsors). Socializing is among these basic needs, as well as constructive ways of spending free time, which is often impossible for socially disadvantaged children.

Socially responsible actions are an important part of Telekom Slovenije's professional culture. We make it a point to invest in this these types of programs and projects, to seamlessly weave together our professional and social environments. We do this with an open heart, and with a great deal of responsibility for all target groups, especially children. The SiOL Cup aims to give back to neighborhoods and help disadvantaged children by getting them involved, said Simon Furlan, Director of Marketing at Telekom Slovenije, on the company's support of the Big Brother Big Sister project.

At the pan-Slovenian football camp in July in Kranjska Gora, which is being organized by the Association of Friends of Youth from Ljubljana Moste-Polje, children will spend a week learning some nice tricks under the expert tutelage of renowned Slovenian soccer coaches and stars. Telekom Slovenije will be helping to fund the camp, which will provide an unforgettable experience to more than 50 youngsters, with the coaches and footballer stars coming from the Football Association of Slovenia. They will also be taking the party to the other 7 summer camps in Kranjska Gora, where campers will be visited by a coach and a professional player.

I'm sure that this camp will be an excellent opportunity for those children whose parents would otherwise never be able to afford this type of sports experience to really learn something about football, while socializing with people of the same age and interests. Every young football player dreams about meeting a football star one day; we are going to make that dream come true. This is affirmative for children, and gives them an introduction into socializing with peers who are not lacking for material wealth, encouraging them to integrate, said Anita Ogulin, secretary of the Association of Friends of Youth of Ljubljana Moste-Polje.
