Other World Computing (OWC) has announced the acquisition of OpenDrives, a provider of software-defined video and rich media storage management solutions. The acquisition expands OWC's shared storage portfolio, which includes the Jellyfish line acquired from LumaForge in 2021, into enterprise-scale data management, hybrid cloud orchestration, and edge workflows.
OpenDrives' product portfolio includes the Atlas data storage and management platform, used by Hollywood studios, post-production houses, and live broadcast networks since 2011; OpenDrives Edge, a hybrid cloud-edge performance accelerator announced in April 2026; and the Astraeus cloud-native data services platform, currently in beta with an updated release planned for 2027.
