Hong Kong TVB integrates a mixer Kahuna and modular solutions IQ in their first mobile unit at UHD The unit has mixer Kahuna 9600, IQ Modular infrastructure production, both Sam, along with 4 K of Ikegami and Fujinon lenses HDR UHD cameras.

The broadcaster of Hong Kong, Television Broadcasts (TVB), has invested in a production switcher multi-format Kahuna and IQ Modular infrastructure of SAM for your first mobile unit in Ultra high definition. The unit will support broadcast both HD and UHD, particularly in the coverage of international events.

The mixer can handle any combination of SD, HD, 1080 p, 4K, IP and HDR without problems and signals effortlessly thanks to SAM FormatFusion3 and FormatFusion4 recently introduced technology, eliminating the need for external conversion, saving time with the configuration.

TVB began the phase of planning and design of your new unit in 2013 to meet the future demand of production UHD / 4K. For the broadcaster, it was critical that any Ultra high definition production is carried out at the same level of reliability and robustness as a HD production.

The biggest challenge was that at the time of the project there were enough UHD equipment market. TVB decided to first build the truck and then reassess the UHD products available at a later stage. In 2016, following a call for proposals, TVB selected Kahuna 9600 UHD production mixer / 4 K of SAM, SAM IQ Modular infrastructure together with cameras HDR UHD 4 Ks Ikegami and lenses of Fujinon. All systems were delivered by the end of 2016, and in April of this year the mobile unit has entered service.
