Gra Valley and Aspera Team up to Offer High-Speed File Transfer for GV STRATUS

As part of its ongoing commitment to open standards architecture, Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, and Aspera, an IBM Company, have teamed up to expand the file transfer capabilities of GV STRATUS. With Aspera's FASP transport technology, video files will now transfer more quickly, reliably and securely between broadcasters, content owners and service providers regardless of transfer distances, file sizes or network conditions.

Aspera's FASP transport technology is a proven standard for the high-speed movement of large files or large collections of files over wide area networks (WANs), without the delays and risks of shipping physical media across the world, or the slow, unreliable and insecure FTP transfers. The integration of Aspera's FASP directly into the GV STRATUS platform provides fast and secure content ingest so customers can get productions running quickly and more smoothly than ever before. Demonstrations of this new solution will be provided at IBC 2014 at Grass Valley's booth, Hall 1: Stand D11.

In today's 24/7 digital world, moving large files quickly and securely so that content can get on air as soon as possible is essential for broadcasters to remain competitive, said John Wastcoat, vice president business development at Aspera. Using GV STRATUS's RESTful Web API, Aspera's FASP technology transports files, at maximum network speeds, from remote locations or field producers to a centralized workflow comprised of GV STRATUS production, content and asset management tools and K2 media servers and storage systems. GV STRATUS users can similarly export content to outside destinations or send files to remote GV STRATUS sites via Aspera software.

With the integration of Aspera software, customers can now benefit from a considerably faster file exchange with a secure delivery protocol, reducing production cycles and getting programming to air much faster, said Mike Cronk, senior vice president of strategic marketing, Grass Valley.
