Carlsbad, Calif. - Exede In The Air in-flight Internet service from ViaSat Inc. (NASDAQ: VSAT) has been selected as a finalist in the Aerospace and Security Technologies category for the 2013 Most Innovative New Product Awards, sponsored by CONNECT. CONNECT, a regional program that catalyzes the creation of innovative technology and life sciences products in San Diego County, continues its twenty-six year tradition of honoring San Diegos leaders of innovation and groundbreaking new products with the annual award.

Exede In The Air is an in-flight connectivity and entertainment system for commercial airliners that is designed to eclipse the quality and speeds of today's in-cabin airline broadband. While other services are managing customer expectations and limiting usage to maintain service quality, the ViaSat service offers the performance and economics to encourage every passenger to go online with 12 Mbps service to every seat. JetBlue and United Airlines are planning to begin offering the service by the end of 2013.
