Hugh Jackman gearing up for first original Hollywood musical in years

18/11/2014

Fox is about to start locking down talent for their upcoming musical The Greatest Showman on Earth.

Hugh Jackman is attached to play real-life showman PT Barnum in the flick, which Deadline believes is the first original live action movie musical since Newsies in 1992. (This all depends, however, on how you classify jukebox musical Moulin Rouge.)

Bill Condon (Chicago) has the credit on the most-recent script, while Michael Gracey, a commercial director and one of the first flash-mobbers, is attached to direct.

Songs will come from Justin Paul & Benj Pasek, Bonnie McKee, Jake Shear and Brian Lapin.

We'd tell you to start learning the lyrics, but as we've mentioned, this is new for all of us.
