Idris Elba is producing an American remake of Luer

19/11/2014

Following in the footsteps of The Office, Prime Suspect, House of Cards and most recently Broadchurch, Fox will produce an American remake of the British cop drama Luther.

According to Deadline, star Idris Elba will produce the re-do with the original show's creator Neil Cross.

However and here's the painful part Elba likely won't reprise the role of rule-bending detective John Luther for American audiences.

Not sure if there's really a need for this, considering how good the original series is (and how unlikely it will be for any other actors to replicate the uncomfortable sexual chemistry between Elba and Ruth Wilson, as serial killer Alice).

But, some of those other remakes turned out okay. We remain cautiously optimistic.
