Join RT Radio 1 for The Pitch, a new series exploring the heart of Ireland's GAA Clubs

The Pitch comes to RT Radio 1 airwaves this Sunday at 7pm. The Pitch is a brand new documentary series that brings listeners inside GAA clubs across Ireland. Presented by John Murray, the series explores how these clubs are faring today, the unique challenges they face, and the role they play in their communities.

Throughout the series, John travels the country to hear powerful stories from clubs like Castlehaven GAA in West Cork, riding the crest of a wave at the moment and excelling on the pitch; Mullinalaghta in Longford, famed for their 2018 Leinster Club Football Championship victory against all odds; Sarsfields GAA in Galway, where the camogie team is achieving unprecedented success; Edenderry GAA in Offaly, where a One Club model has transformed the organisation over the past decade and Dublin-based Na Gaeil Aeracha, the first LGBTQ+ club in the GAA, celebrating their first bit of silverware after just five years in existence. John will also visit Loughgiel Shamrocks, a small community of just over 420 people in the glens of Antrim, whose hurling and camogie clubs have achieved remarkable success.

The series kicks off this Sunday, July 6 at 7pm with a visit to Castlehaven GAA Club in Co.Cork. In the first episode, Murray explores the club's proud history and recent triumphs, speaking with local figures including Cork footballing great Niall Cahalane.
