LinkedIn opens new community space for local Bay Area nonprofits Published on Oct 15, 2019

Today, LinkedIn is excited to announce the opening of a new community space, InCommon, in its downtown San Francisco office. The space will provide critical programming, meeting, and event space at no cost for Bay Area nonprofits focused on removing barriers to opportunity for underserved communities.
At its core, this initiative is driven by our vision of creating economic opportunity for every member of the global workforce, right in our own neighborhood, says Katie Ferrick, Head of Community, Sustainability and Workplace Programs at LinkedIn. It's inspiring to see the immediate impact this space has had on our partner organizations and the communities they serve.
InCommon - which has been operating on a trial basis for the past several months - has already supported over 20 mission-aligned nonprofits including Code Tenderloin in partnership with San Francisco Mayor London Breed's Opportunities For All initiative, JVS, and MEDA, welcomed over 500+ members of the community, and hosted 100+ events. Through the free access to this space, Bay Area nonprofits have already saved a combined $100,000 to date.
Artists from Creativity Explored, a Bay Area-based nonprofit providing artists with developmental disabilities the means to create and share their work with the community, will display a rotating art gallery within the space. Art from their network of creators is available for purchase within the space, with 100% of the proceeds going to the organization and their artists.
The intention of InCommon is to provide a vital connection point for Bay Area organizations to better achieve their missions of creating economic opportunities for the communities they've long been a part of. Spaces like these are a creative and viable way for companies to continue to support and serve their communities, said Orlando White, LinkedIn Community Affairs manager.
