At IBC 2014, Grass Valley, a Belden brand, will demonstrate the integration of GV STRATUS with Masstech media management solutions to create a seamless workflow for archiving and repurposing high-resolution assets. GV STRATUS users will have a complete, integral toolset, including a unique workflow for news, to efficiently archive and restore content between K2 Summit 3G media servers and storage units and archive systems managed by Masstech. The GV STRATUS and Masstech solution also makes it easy to move assets for production in and out of the system and between different systems to different locations, helping to make greater use of valuable content.
Few things are as disruptive to workflows in the newsroom or production as having to change application environments or move to another workstation when you need to find and edit video assets, commented Joe French, CEO, Masstech. Combining Masstech media management with Grass Valley's GV STRATUS ecosystem provides great flexibility in how users archive and use content. For example, with Masstech for News, journalists can automatically archive, access and share content directly from their newsroom systems, saving time, reducing effort, and encouraging the reuse of existing content to lower production costs.
Masstech offers two solutions based on the same underlying and interoperable archive, transcoding and management foundation. Masstech for Enterprise offers a complete archiving and transcoding solution that streamlines the movement of media resources between archives and production systems. Masstech for News is purpose-built for the challenges of today's newsrooms to allow journalists to automatically archive, access, share and use a company's content directly from within popular newsroom system interfaces. It gives GV STRATUS users direct access to the content they need, enabling producers and writers in the newsroom to find, preview, manipulate and restore content in ways that were previously only available to staff at dedicated editing workstations. Masstech for News enables news operations to more effectively reuse and repurpose their valuable content.
An important part of the digital media production lifecycle is the ability to archive high-resolution assets in a permanent archive system and retrieve them for reuse quickly, said Mike Cronk, senior vice president of strategic marketing, Grass Valley. Through this partnership, Grass Valley provides support to Masstech customers who want to deploy Grass Valley's GV STRATUS solutions and gives GV STRATUS customers another choice for content management.
GV STRATUS tools currently support integration with DIVArchive, SGL Flashnet and FTP archiving solutions. The Masstech archiving interface will be included in GV STRATUS's next release, available in the next few weeks.
