Newly established financial services company Elemental, whose mission is to improve the availability of vital correspondent services' for banks in developing countries, is sponsoring the Judges' award at the annual tve Global Sustainability Film Awards together with Fastflow Group.
Our aim - to help strengthen local businesses in developing countries and ultimately to support their sustainability - chimes well with the themes of equality and sustainability that are celebrated in the tve awards, so we re delighted to be highlighting our exciting new venture through this sponsorship,' says Elemental's founder, Luis Koberg, who will present the award.
Correspondent services underpin international trade, remittances, and financing of humanitarian work, but over the last decade, global banks have limited their operations in order to comply with regulations designed to curtail money-laundering and terrorism financing,' explains Luis. As a consequence, emerging nations have often become disconnected from the global payment tools that are essential to receiving payments for exports and to pay for imports, fuelling increased dependence on foreign aid, indebtedness, lack of job creation and lack of capital goods to aid productivity.
Elemental will provide a desperately needed lifeline to several thousand banks which have been orphaned' by traditional global institutions.'
Luis will announce the winner of the Judges' award during the Awards ceremony at BAFTA on Monday 26 November. The film winning the award has been selected, by the judges, from among the films shortlisted in the five competitive categories.

The tve Global Sustainability Film Awards are organised annually by the charity tve. The film competition recognises companies and institutions whose films most powerfully portray solutions for sustainability. This year's competition has attracted 42 entries. For the third year running we are focusing on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which set ambitious targets for world development: eradicating poverty and hunger; ensuring good health, quality education and gender equality; and setting targets for affordable and clean energy, climate action and responsible consumption and production. tve is the non-profit based in London that organises the Awards. It creates and enables others to create powerful, effective communications about the environment and sustainable development. Sky has partnered with tve to launch the Beyond plastic category this year. Last year Sky News won the Press Association award for environmental storytelling, for its documentary A Plastic Whale'. Grace has created two new categories for the 2018 Awards: AI: empowering the future and Global digital futures. An inventor with 73 intellectual property rights in her name, Grace focuses on the potential of smart cities to transform society through projects like mobile hospitals and smart health villages. Grace jointly owns a research and development centre with the China Academy of Sciences and is an economic advisor for the Chinese government. She is currently engaged in setting up platform technology for blockchain and cryptocurrency, aiming to improve the economic cycle in a way that better serves societal needs, and manages a team in Singapore which has completed 40 Initial Coin Offerings
