Institutional Venture Partners (IVP) appoints Sandy Miller as a New General Partner Menlo Park, Calif. April 3, 2006 Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), a leading venture capital firm, announced today that it has expanded its investment team with the addition of J. Sanford (Sandy) Miller. Mr. Miller brings extensive experience to IVP and will serve as a General Partner focused on expansion-stage investments. Miller joins Todd Chaffee, Reid Dennis, Norm Fogelsong, Steve Harrick and Dennis Phelps as the sixth General Partner of the firm.

Miller brings more than 30 years of investment banking and venture capital experience to IVP. Prior to joining IVP, Miller was a Senior Partner with 3i in Menlo Park and managed the later-stage investment group. He led investments in Vonage, Placeware, SkyStream Networks, Merchant e-Solutions and US Internetworking. He continues as the Lead Director of Vonage.

Miller co-founded Thomas Weisel Partners where he was a member of the Executive Committee, Chief Administrative and Strategic Officer and Co-Director of Investment Banking. He was a Senior Partner at Montgomery Securities, and led the technology and healthcare groups. Miller was a Managing Director and ran technology investment banking in San Francisco for Merrill Lynch and Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette. He was a strategy consultant at Bain & Company and a securities lawyer at Pillsbury Winthrop.

He received his B.A. from University of Virginia (Phi Beta Kappa) and has a J.D. and M.B.A. from Stanford University. Miller is a College Trustee at the University of Virginia and serves on the Management Board of the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Cantor Center at Stanford University.
