The British Soap Awards returns to celebrate another mammoth year in soap opera, looking back on twelve months of murder, mystery, make ups, break ups, trials, tribulations and tears.

An incredible year in which the nation finally found out who killed Lucy Beale, a dramatic train crash tragically claimed lives in Hollyoaks, Rob and Karen were reunited in Doctors, Emmerdale beauty Katie Sugden fell to her death and many beloved Weatherfield residents were involved in a shocking minibus crash.

The 17th annual awards, which take place in Manchester at the Palace Theatre, will honour the nation's biggest and best-loved TV shows, as well as the stars that have appeared in this year's most talked about storylines.

The five biggest soaps - Coronation Street, Doctors, EastEnders, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks - will be battling it out to win recognition for their work over the past year. Stars from all five soaps will be hitting the red carpet for the most star-studded event in the soap calendar.

Hosted by Phillip Schofield (his tenth year anniversary), the awards will be presented by an array of well-known faces from across the TV and showbiz world.
