7de Laan viewers are applauding the soapie for creating awareness about rhino poaching.

The show has viewers in suspense with its rhino poaching storyline that is shedding light on the urgency to save rhinos.

-- RHINO POACHING STORYLINE The Hillside Clinic had a patient who needed a medical emergency last week after a rhino horn got stuck out of his chest.
Tjattas (Rickus Strauss) recognised the patient (Oom Bricks) from the squatter camp and informed the clinic when they couldn't get a hold of his family.

He informed Alexa (Carina Nel) and her husband, Fikani (Nicholas Nkuna) that Oom Bricks used to help him out financially and also assisted him get a loan.
Tjattas was devastated when Oom Bricks eventually succumbed to his injuries and started panicking when he realised that Oom Bricks cannot assist him repay his loan from the loan sharks.

-- Tjattas got severely beaten for missing his payments, and went to see the loan sharks boss, Majoor Jak to get an extension on his loan.
Majoor Jak informed him that he needed to poach two horns of a white rhino to repay the loan or he'll get killed.
The teasers for this week suggest that DeWet is going to assist Tjattas get out of his challenging situation.
DeWet's (Dirk Stoltz) security company was hired by Majoor Jak to rough up some of his clients who've missed payments on their loans.
HOW THE HORN WAS MOUNTED ON THE ACTOR'S BODY According to The Citizen the rhino horn was carved from a block of polystyrene and then sanded, and the exterior was made from a product called Free Form Sculpt.
The horn was mounted on a tiny piece of Masonite board, and then tied around the actor before adding the bloody finishing touches and gauze.
