Object Matrix and Sony to Bundle Intelligent Object Storage with Sony Optical Disc Archive 25 April 2016

Sony and Object Matrix have brought together their expertise in object storage, digital preservation and media asset management platforms to provide a tightly integrated solution set aimed at any organisation that has to protect, curate and preserve digital video assets. By bundling MatrixStore object storage with the next generation of Sony Optical Disc Archive technology, organisations are able to protect their assets from ingest through to archive on proven, scalable and future proof platforms. The workflows are also entirely flexible and can be driven by 3rd party applications, the Object Matrix applications or via the Sony Media Navigator MAM.

The initial focus is to help broadcasters and post-production facilities protect their rushes, work in progress and masters for the short, medium and long term. Media Asset Management applications

WORM functionality. Both MatrixStore object storage and ODA provide this important function

Sony's Optical Disc Archive (ODA) is already recognized for its robustness and longevity. Across the globe, organisations are adopting Optical Disc Archive to keep their files safe and ensure peace of mind. It is well suited for deep long-term digital media preservation, where data tape does not provide the assurance of Write Once (WORM) and disaster tolerant archive requirements. It can provide a second-copy for near-online or external storage at remote sites, ideal for business continuity/disaster recovery, production and post-production backup and for video, film, stock footage archives or national archives. The system can also be used for news and sports clips for proxy workflows and quick partial file restores, thanks to random access performance.
