
Nineteen short of Spain and Portugal will compete in the 23 Festival Ib rico de Badajoz The Festival, which will take place from the 19th to the 23rd of July, have been submitted in competition 429 films, 394 Spanish and 25 Portuguese, that have been selected 19 which will be screened at the theatre terrace L pez de Ayala de Badajoz, Olivenza and this year for the first time in San Vicente de Alc ntara.
A total of 19 short of Spanish and Portuguese filmmakers will compete in the 23rd Iberian Film Festival of Badajoz, a landmark of cinema in the Iberian Peninsula to be held in the theatre L pez de Ayala from 19 to 23 July. These works have been selected among the 429 presented in competition, of which 25 are Portuguese and 10 Extremadura.
The selection Committee has highlighted the wide variety of genres and topics covered presented, mostly shorts linked to current reality. Issues as Islamism, ecology, immigrants, elderly or gender-based violence, are addressed from very different points of view, from the intimate to the comedy. There are stories of love unconventional and original views on the relationships between people and those created by new technologies
Another aspect that has highlighted the selection Committee is the impetus of the animation productions with various techniques, from Portugal.
Director of the Iberian Film Festival, Alejandro Pach n, believes that "the selection of this year more commercial is that in previous years, in the sense that is designed for a public majority, therefore, although in the selection Committee remains dominant invoice technical and narrative above any consideration of thematic or conjunctural level".
19 short films that have become the official section, 15 from Spain and Portugal 4, will compete for the Onofre Prize to the best short film, endowed with 3,000 euros, as well as the prize of the public of Badajoz, Olivenza and San Vicente de Alc ntara, with 800 euros each. This latter municipality is incorporated for the first time as an extension of the Festival. This year is endowed of economic value to the awards for best male and female, performance thanks to the sponsorship of the Fundaci n AISGE (Artistas Int rpretes, Sociedad de gesti n), so the winners will receive 500 euros.
In the rest of the modalities, as best director, best screenplay, original music and photography and the youth jury prize of the festival, consisting of University students, will receive a statuette.
In addition to the official meetings, the programming of the festival includes screenings of films out of competition, the realization of a workshop of cinematographic creation for young people in collaboration with the Extremadura Center of studies and cooperation with Ibero-America (CEXECI) and other parallel activities in different areas of the city, as the Caja Badajoz University residence (RUCAB), office of the

The deadline for joining the young jury of the Iberian Film Festival remains open until June 15. This jury, which will fail the CEXECI Prize from this contest, will be formed by University students. This is an initiative that promotes for the eighth consecutive year the Centro Extreme o de Estudios y cooperaci n with Iberoam rica (CEXECI).
They may participate in the selection to be member of this jury students aged between 18 and 30 years, the University of Extremadura, as well as any University Portugal, regardless of the studies that are.
The members of the young jury, will receive an accreditation certificate and shall have the right and obligation to attend all official sessions of short films in competition that will take place in the Teatro L pez de Ayala.
Interested parties should send their application for registration to the address info@festivaldecine.com until June 15, indicating your personal data, studies enrolled and his town of residence.
It will also remain open until July 10 to participate in the workshop of cinematographic creation aimed at young people aged 14 to 17. This is another of the activities offered by the festival, also in collaboration with the CEXECI. The workshop is free and lasts for 25 hours (classroom and practical). It will be developed from 17 to July 21 in the center of formation of skylight (calle Mu oz Torrero, Badajoz, number 22). The number of places is limited to 15. The selection will be held in strict order of registration
