tve engages business community with debate on the challenge of green growth, hosted by the EBRD

Can companies combat climate change while still making profits? Our panel of corporate thought leaders took this question head-on, in the magnificent setting of the boardroom of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), overlooking the City of London.

In the lead up to the 2018 tve Global Sustainability Film Awards together with Fastflow Group, we asked a panel of industry representatives if and how business can thrive, as well as deliver the transformation required to establish a sustainable, green global economy.

Our debate Growth v. climate change: Can business resolve the conflict?' was chaired by Claudine Blamey, Awards president. Joining her on the panel were Alistair Clark, managing director, environment and sustainability at the EBRD, Christian Toennesen, owner and senior partner, Carnstone Partners LLP (management consultancy specialising in sustainability); Michele O' Neill, global strategy partner and Unilever brand lead at Edelman; and Steven Schofield, senior climate and energy advisor at Shell.

We know of many trail-blazing companies and exemplary new green business models, but it's essential we have a realistic understanding that transitioning to a green economy won't happen overnight. It isn't easy or automatic, nor can business alone solve climate change. It requires strong leadership and sustained pressure and action from all quarters; everyone has a role to play', commented debate chair Claudine Blamey.
