Dave commissions a second series of Unspun With Matt Forde to make politics great again

Tuesday 24th January 2017 Unspun with Matt Forde (6x60) returns to Dave this March to take an irreverent look at politics and politicians in 2017. Matt will dismantle the hyperbole and try to work out what on earth is going on, how did it all happen and whats going to happen next.

Produced by Avalon Television, Unspun with Matt Fordes first series attracted a particularly strong profile to the channel with 31% 16-34 and 66% ABC1 adults.

Recorded the day before transmission, series two will feature up-to-the minute analysis of the news agenda, special reports from guest comedians including Andy Zaltzman and Phil Wang and music from Matts house band MP4, the worlds only parliamentary rock group whose members are all serving, or former politicians.

At the heart of each Unspun With Matt Forde will be an in-depth discussion with one of Britains leading political figures. Fresh from the news of Brexit, series one saw Matt grill some of the UKs most talked about politicians including Chuka Umunna, Ruth Davidson, Nick Clegg and Anna Soubry.

Richard Watsham, director of commissioning, said,

At a time of increasing political uncertainty, Matt Fordes brilliant brand of political comedy is more important than ever. Theres not enough satire around right now so Im delighted to be continuing to stretch Daves output with a second series of Unspun.

Steve North, general manager for Dave, said,

We are very proud of the series and the brilliant way its helped Dave build its reputation for contemporary and topical commissioning. Matt gives the channel a platform to be current and unique, and with such a rich mix of political faux pas its only right Matt has a chance to do what he does best and call those responsible out.

The series will air on Dave from Wednesday 1st March and has been ordered by Richard Watsham and Steve North. Deputy director of commissioning, Hilary Rosen commissioned the series and will executive produce for UKTV.

MP4 are: Kevin Brennan MP (guitar and vocals), former MP Ian Cawsey (bass guitar and vocals), The Rt Hon. Sir Greg Knight MP (drums and percussion) and Pete Wishart MP (keyboards and vocals). The news follows the success of UKTV Original series on Dave in 2016, including Taskmaster, Dave Gorman Modern Life is Goodish and Red Dwarf XI, all returning with brand new series later this year.

Series guests are yet to be confirmed.
