Penyertaan kini disediakan untuk pratonton dan muat turun percuma melalui perkhidmatan Maxis ebook dan e-Sentral hingga 25 April 2013
Ebook yang mempunyai jumlah muat turun paling tinggi akan dipilih sebagai salah satu daripada lima pemenang

Maxis Berhad (Maxis), peneraju perkhidmatan komunikasi bersepadu Malaysia, dengan sukacitanya mengumumkan bahawa penyertaan untuk pertandingan ebook yang dilancarkan pada bulan lalu dengan kerjasama platform digital tempatan, Xentral Methods Sdn Bhd (e-Sentral), kini disediakan untuk pratonton dan muat turun percuma kepada orang ramai melalui perkhidmatan Maxis ebook di http://ebuuk.com.my dan laman web e-Sentral di http://esentral.com.my hingga 25 April 2013
Lima pengarang ebook yang mempunyai jumlah muat turun yang paling tinggi akan dipilih sebagai pemenang, dan akan menerima sebuah iPad. Di samping itu, penulis untuk buku yang mempunyai muat turun tertinggi akan menerima Rundingan Editorial dan Penerbitan Profesional mengenai bagaimana untuk menerbitkan dan mengkomersilkan kerja mereka melalui platform digital.
Pada bulan Februari, Maxis dan e-Sentral melancarkan pertandingan ebook yang pertama di Malaysia yang terbuka kepada semua rakyat Malaysia berumur 18 tahun ke atas, dengan tujuan mencari para penulis generasi akan datang Malaysia dengan menyediakan platform alternatif bagi mereka untuk menyerlahkan kerja mereka dan juga membantu mereka mencapai golongan pembaca yang lebih luas. Penulis telah diberi peluang untuk mengemukakan ebook fiksyen pendek mereka sama ada dalam Bahasa Inggeris atau Bahasa Malaysia (satu pengarang bagi setiap penyerahan) dari 1 Februari hingga 15 Mac 2013 ke laman rasmi Facebook Pertandingan Ebook di www.facebook.com/EbookCompetition.
T Kugan, Ketua Produk, Peranti, Inovasi, dan Perantauan Maxis, berkata, Kami amat teruja bahawa pertandingan ini telah menerima respons positif daripada orang ramai, terutamanya dari penulis-penulis muda yang berumur 25 tahun ke bawah, yang merupakan majoriti penyertaan. Kami juga gembira melihat mereka menggunakan teknologi sebagai satu medium untuk melepaskan kreativiti mereka dan berkongsi hasil kerja masing-masing. Kami menggalakkan orang ramai untuk mula memuat turun kerja mereka dan mengundi untuk cerita-cerita kegemaran mereka.
Maxis telah menjadi peneraju dalam membawa inovasi ke pasaran dengan terus membina ekosistem data (data-friendly ecosystem) untuk menyediakan pelanggan pengalaman digital yang kaya melalui pelbagai kandungan digital. Melalui pertandingan ini, kami mengukuhkan lagi proposisi ini dengan memberi pelanggan akses kepada kandungan yang inovatif dan eksklusif yang hanya boleh didapati melalui perkhidmatan ebook kami, tambah Kugan.
Penulis Michele Chia Yuen Yee, 22, dari Petaling Jaya, berkata, Sejak saya muda lagi, saya sentiasa mahu menjadi seorang novelis / penulis. Saya masih berusaha dalam merealisasikan mimpi itu dan menulis beberapa novel, dengan harapan bahawa satu hari nanti saya boleh menjadi Meg Cabot atau Sophie Kinsella Malaysia, yang merupakan pengarang buku idola saya. Cita-cita saya adalah untuk membuat pembaca merasakan perasaan yang sama seperti apa yang saya alami apabila membaca salah satu daripada buku penulis idola saya - di bawa ke alam yang ajaib, dan melupakan dunia di sekeliling saya.
Seorang lagi penulis, Jay Anil Singh Shemar, 18, dari Rawang, Selangor, berkata Inspirasi saya untuk menulis adalah minat saya untuk menulis cerita yang biasanya tidak meninggalkan bilik darjah. Melalui pertandingan ini, saya berharap dapat diberi peluang untuk diiktiraf sebagai penulis yang berpotensi. Mungkin juga ditawarkan satu perjanjian penerbitan!
Walaupun penulis-penulis ini teruja dengan prospek memenangi pertandingan, sesetengah daripada mereka telah menggunakan pertandingan ini sebagai satu peluang untuk menunjukkan kemahiran mereka sebagai penulis untuk jangka masa yang lebih panjang.
Apabila ditanya mengenai harapan beliau untuk pertandingan ini, Ezzah Fatin Jemain, 21, dari Skudai, Johor berkata, Saya berharap ia akan menjadi galakan dan motivasi untuk diri saya bahawa dunia penulis tiada ada batasnya. Memenangi pertandingan ini pastinya satu bonus, tetapi jika saya tidak menang, tidak bermakna saya harus berhenti!
Ia memang hebat jika saya dapat menang tetapi pada ketika ini, saya agak gembira dapat mencari tempat untuk mempamerkan tulisan saya kepada khalayak yang lebih luas selain daripada keluarga terdekat dan rakan-rakan saya. Saya juga berharap untuk menulis untuk medium yang berbeza seperti TV dan filem, kata Adlina Amiruddin, 29, dari Shah Alam, Selangor
Sementara itu, Muhammad Iqbal Ibrahim, 20, dari Pulau Pangkor berkata, Kemenangan bukanlah perkara pertama yang saya harap dari pertandingan ini. Andai kata saya tidak menang juga saya boleh terima. Saya cuma berharap karya saya ini dibaca oleh pembaca diluar sana. Itu yang mengembirakan saya. Bila tamat sahaja pertandingan ini kelak, saya berharap juga ada yang setia untuk membaca karya saya seterusnya.
Tahun lalu, Maxis melancarkan perkhidmatan buku digital bersepadu yang pertama di Malaysia, atau ebook, yang boleh digunakan di pelbagai peranti. Dengan perkhidmatan tersebut, pelanggan Maxis mempunyai akses kepada lebih 300,000 ebook tempatan dan antarabangsa dari lebih 40 kategori.
