
The winners of the tve Global Sustainability Film Awards together with Fastflow Group have been revealed this evening, in a ceremony hosted by Sky News' Thomas Moore at BAFTA. Winning films highlighted cutting edge and more traditional solutions to climate change, the way artificial intelligence can be harnessed to help combat gender violence in Pakistan, how a smart phone app can provide small scale fishermen in South Africa with much needed proof of their financial stability, and a teacher inspiring environmental guardianship in his students.
In the competitive categories, the Global digital futures award, founded by Grace Bian, vice president of this year's Awards and chair of the China International Culture Stock Exchange, was won by GODAN for its OPEN WATER GODAN documentary web series.
Winner of the Sky: Beyond plastic award was PLASTIC ENERGY for Closing the plastic loop.
The Reshaping the economy award, sponsored by Barbara Schurer, underwriting member of Lloyd's and founder of The Lime Street Guide, was won by Climeworks' Capturing CO2 from air.
The Transforming society award, sponsored by Octopus Group, was won by Volvo for its film The unseen ocean.
The Protecting the environment award, sponsored by Azad Ayub, was won by rsted forLove your home.
The winner of the Judges' award, sponsored by Elemental, was the World Business Council for Sustainable Development's The natural solution.
In the nominated categories, winner of the AI: empowering the future award, founded byGrace Bian, chair of China International Culture Stock Exchange, was Aurat Raaj's The Story of Raaji - The Ultimate Survivor.
The Founder's award for sustainability on the big screen went to Amerika Square by director Yannis Sakaridis and Marblemen Productions.
The Press Association award for environmental storytelling went to the BBC's Blue Planet II episode 7, Our Blue Planet.
All films entered into this year's Awards are available on the Awards website.
Judges for the competitive categories were Nick Nuttall, spokesperson and director of communications for the recent Global Climate Action Summit in San Francisco (chair of judges); Grace Bian, chair of the China International Culture Stock Exchange; Claudine Blamey, Sainsbury's group head of corporate responsibility and sustainability; Ryan Brennan, strategic development director at Fastflow Group; Victoria Brooks, sustainability communications strategist; Stephanie DeGroote, a senior producer at Sky News; fine artist Lady Deirdre Dyson; media entrepreneur Chris Gorell Barnes; film producer Kari Lia; Baroness Young of Hornsey OBE, campaigner on modern slavery and transparency in supply chain reporting; and agricultural economist Paul Zuckerman.
Judges for the AI: empowering the future award were Grace Bian, Awards vice president (chair of judges); Jon Chadwick, founder of Leander Management; Darius Danesh, recording artist and founder of Fresh2o; and film and TV producer Mark Foligno.
Judges for the Founder's award for sustainability on the big screen were Steven Bernstein, award-winning cinematographer, director, screenwriter and author (chair of judges); Awards founder, Surina Narula MBE, businesswoman, philanthropist, and tve trustee; and Denise Parkinson, Telegraph Media Group entertainment director, global and UK.
Judges for the Press Association award for environmental storytelling were Pete Clifton, Press Association editor-in-chief (chair of judges); Sophie Chalk, broadcast policy adviser; Alex Rothwell, Press Association video content lead; and Cheryl Campbell, tve executive director.
The shortlisting panels, chaired by Victoria Brooks, vice-president of the Awards, brought together expertise from the creative, corporate and sustainability fields. The panels consisted of: Ali Alvarez, award-winning filmmaker and creative director; Andrew Wilson, director of Edelman's work on Purpose; Emma De'Ath, commissioning editor at BBC Global News; Grace Bian, vice-president of the Awards and chair of the China International Culture Stock Exchange; Karin Laljani, economist and former CEO of Corporate Citizenship; Kate Phillips OBE, former marketing director and associate director of Christian Aid; Lady Dyson, artist, carpet designer and London gallery owner; Sarah Dawkins, producer at Sky News; Sarah Whitehead, deputy head of news gathering at Sky News and Zomo Fisher, director at Accenture's Sustainability Strategy Practice.

The tve Global Sustainability Film Awards are organised annually by the charity tve. The film competition recognises companies and institutions whose films most powerfully portray solutions for sustainability. This year's competition attracted 42 entries. For the third year running we are focusing on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which set ambitious targets for world development: eradicating poverty and hunger; ensuring good health, quality education and gender equality; and setting targets for affordable and clean energy, climate action and responsible consumption and production.
