Christopher Wares Named Assistant Chair of Music Business/Management Wares comes to Berklee from Trebas Institute in Montreal, Canada.

Berklee has named educator, academic administrator, and business development consultant Christopher Wares as assistant chair of the Music Business/Management Department. Wares comes to Berklee from Trebas Institute in Montreal, Canada, where he worked as a program coordinator and instructor for four years.

Wares received his Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in electroacoustics and minor in business studies from Concordia University in 2008. He earned his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in music business in 2019 from Berklee and Southern New Hampshire Universitys joint program. In addition to teaching a variety of business administration courses specializing in the music industry, he has worked with several postsecondary institutions to develop and update curricula, design new courses and materials, and organize events.

Christopher Wares is one of the most knowledgeable music industry experts I have ever met, said Tonya Butler, chair of the Music Business/Management Department. His experience spans across multiple disciplines, making him the ideal choice for assistant chair. About Christopher Wares Throughout his work and educational experience, Wares demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the music industry, from marketing and promotion to album production, publishing, and recording contracts. Before transitioning to the business side of the industry, he worked as an award-winning sound engineer with some of Canada's most prestigious recording studios. Wares has served in numerous roles focused on marketing, metadata and distribution, and artist management with several of North America's largest independent record labels, publishing companies, entertainment law firms, and management companies. As a professional grant writer, Wares has successfully procured hundreds of thousands of dollars in government and private funds for artists and businesses, such as record labels and music publishers.

Wares has worked with a wide variety of music industry organizations throughout his career, including the Recording Academy, the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), and the Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA). Additionally, Wares regularly serves as a grant applications juror for the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings (FACTOR). He is fluent in English and French.
