New Role for Karen A. Bell in Professional Performance Division

Karen A. Bell B.M. '90, a graduate of Berklee College of Music and a tenured administrator, has accepted the position of academic assistant to the dean of the Professional Performance Division. Bell previously worked for 13 years in the college's alumni affairs office as its director and, more recently, as the senior alumni officer for Berklee and Boston Conservatory at Berklee. In this role, she connected college and conservatory alumni to the greater Berklee community, including current students.

I am very excited about Karen coming to the Performance Division with her broad range of musical and educational experiences, said Ron Savage B.M. 84, dean of the Professional Performance Division. As the division moves to expand our efforts to assist students in strategizing for life after Berklee, I believe Karen has the foresight and creativity to effectively advise our talented students in preparation for the next step of their journey.

With more than 30 years in the music industry, Bell has performed as host and lead vocalist for numerous events and top corporate bands in domestic and international locations. She leads the Karen Bell Band, which ranges in format from a duo to 10 pieces, including three singers and a horn section. Also an entrepreneur, she runs the Bell Affair, which offers event production for companies, management for artists, and educational programming on how to maneuver throughout the music industry.

Guiding our performance division students in achieving success as they define it includes calling upon vast industry wisdom and anecdotes from our incredible alumni community, said Bell. During my years at Berklee, I've met and kept in touch with some of the most talented personalities in music and business. I'll appreciate bringing these knowledgeable folks back to campus to further impact our students.
