
-Two new award categories: My Favourite TVB Supporting Actor and My Favourite TVB Supporting Actress-
-Award-winning artiste Carol Cheng to host StarHub TVB Awards for the first time-
Singapore, 2 September 2014 - Into its fifth year, the prestigious StarHub TVB Awards kicks off a month-long voting campaign starting today. This will culminate with the Awards Ceremony which will be held at Marina Bay Sands on 11 October 2014. Hong Kong's iconic actress and acclaimed host Carol Cheng, will compere at the star-studded event in Singapore for the first time, alongside popular TVB host Derek Li. A crowd favourite in Hong Kong when she hosted the TVB Awards there, Carol promises to liven up the show with her charm and star appeal.
This year, StarHub TVB Awards will feature a total of 15 Awards Categories, with 12 open to public for voting. To recognise the vital roles played by the supporting cast, two new categories will also be up for contention: My Favourite TVB Supporting Actor and My Favourite TVB Supporting Actress. Fresh faces such as Jason Chan, Him Law and Oscar Leong are nominated in My Favourite TVB Supporting Actor Category, while the My Favourite TVB Supporting Actress Category sees the return of established actresses such as Elena Kong, Louise Lee, Maggie Shiu and Nancy Wu.
Within the 12 categories that are open for voting, Black Heart White Soul, a modern thriller which stars Kristal Tin and Ron Ng, leads the pack with 10 nominations, while Brother's Keeper, a drama on the changing fates of two brothers, which stars Ruco Chan and Edwin Siu, follows with seven nominations. Both dramas have nominations in categories such as My Favourite TVB Male TVB Character, My Favourite TVB Drama, and the coveted My Favourite TVB Actor and My Favourite TVB Actress.
The 12 categories-My Favourite TVB Actress, My Favourite TVB Actor, My Favourite TVB Supporting Actress, My Favourite TVB Supporting Actor, My Favourite TVB Female TV Character, My Favourite TVB Male TV Character, My Favourite TVB Drama, My Favourite TVB Variety Special, My Favourite TVB Variety/ Infotainment Programme, My Favourite TVB On-Screen Couple, My Favourite TVB Theme Song and My Favourite TVB Variety Host- are open for public voting via the StarHub TVB Awards website and Lianhe Wanbao from today till 8 October. All voters will stand a chance to win one of the 15 pairs of tickets to watch the StarHub TVB Awards 2014.
As a reward to StarHub customers, one lucky winner who is currently subscribed to any of the following TVB Channels-TVBS Asia (Ch 828), TVB8 (Ch 829), TVBJ (Ch 838), TVB Cantonese On Demand (Ch 839), VV Drama (Ch 855), TVB Classic Channel (Ch 858), TVB Xing He Channel (Ch 859) and TVB First (Ch 860)-will walk away with the grand prize of a luxurious freehold Country Garden Danga Bay Condominium in Johor Bahru worth RM500,000. New customers who sign up by 25 September qualify in the grand lucky draw too.

Our decision to broadcast the Awards live' for the first time last year saw us capturing over half the total viewership of all Chinese channels on that day. In view of that overwhelming response, we will continue to bring the Awards live' to all our viewers on StarHub TV this year, added Ms Lee.
The StarHub TVB Awards 2014 will commence with TVB artistes arriving for the Red Carpet at 5pm at Level 1 Hall C, followed by the Awards Ceremony which will be held at The Grand Theatre. Viewers will be able to catch the Red Carpet at 6.30pm, followed by the Awards Presentation live' at 7.30pm on E City (StarHub TV Channel 111/ 825), or via StarHub TV Anywhere at www.starhubtvanywhere.com.
