Paywizard has been attending NAB Show in Las Vegas for over 10 years, with some of the team being NAB veterans. As the event is fast approaching, we've pulled together some top tips from our expert attendees, for first time visitors and exhibitors. From packing essentials to queuing and transport, our NAB survival guide will get you through the show as smoothly as possible.

Failing to Prepare is Preparing to Fail Like any event, it's essential to plan as far in advance as possible. Whether that's booking flights, hotels and restaurants or planning your day to day event activities, it pays to be prepared. NAB is the biggest event in the TV industry combining a conference, exhibition and education sessions so unfortunately there's just not enough time to see everything. Have a look at the show schedule, see what suits your interests most and use the myNAB Show Planner to ensure you don't miss anything!

Packing Essentials Although you may have heard this one many times before, it is critical to pack comfortable shoes! There is a lot of walking involved at the show, and the convention center is enormous, so if you don't take this tip on board, your feet will soon feel it. Lip balm is also important, as well as sun screen and an umbrella, as the weather in April can be unpredictable in Las Vegas. Also, it may be hot outside, but the air con is particularly cold in the convention center, so pack a light jacket or cardigan for whilst your inside. While visiting the show each day, pack a light bag for the day, but be sure to include some protein bars and fruit for snacks, some water to keep you hydrated and of course a power bank or charger for your smartphone.

Get in Line There's no quiet' time in Vegas, so it's important to leave some extra time for waiting in queues. From checking in at your hotel, to getting lunch and waiting on taxis there will be a lot of standing around so plan your time wisely. Monday and Tuesday in particular are very busy show days so avoid the coffee shops and food court at peak times.

Take Advantage of Free and Cheap Transportation There will be a lot of travelling involved when at NAB Show, and the amount spent on taxis can quickly add up. Take advantage of the Las Vegas Monorail which runs up the back of the Las Vegas strip and stops at the conference centre. There is also a complimentary shuttle bus service provided by NAB, which offers daily journeys to the convention center as well as the airport. Have a look at the schedule here.

Dealing with the dreaded Jet Lag If you're visiting from overseas, jet lag is inevitable. Even if you're struggling to stay awake, try to keep yourself busy when you arrive (which we know will be hard) and go to bed at your normal bedtime. Go for a walk, get a little sunshine, have a light meal and avoid caffeine or alcohol. If you're having the opposite issue and can't sleep, try a hot bath and a comfy eye mask!
