SPLICE Expands Audio Department with Addition of Sound Designer/Mixer Kei Gettelman

Creative studio SPLICE continues to expand its Audio Department with the addition of Sound Designer/Mixer Keith Gettelman. Splice welcomed fellow Sound Designer/Mixer Troy Hermes earlier this year to head the company's Audio team. Together this summer, Gettelman and Hermes provided sound design and effects for Director Eric D. Howell's ( Ana's Playground ) new short film Strangers starring James Denton (Desperate Housewives) and Marta Milans (Law and Order) that went to final mix with Oscar-winner Gary Rizzo at legendary Skywalker Sound in Northern California.

Keith really proved himself to be an invaluable asset during the final days of sound work for Strangers,' says Clayton Condit, Splice Partner. Keith's short-form and long-form experience, as well as his passion for creating unique sounds has already made him a key player in our Audio Department, as we are ramping up for a very busy season of feature and broadcast work.

Splice's Clayton Condit edited Howell's award-winning short Ana's Playground, and was editor and supervising sound editor for Strangers, which is being prepared for the festival circuit. http://splice.tv/pith/?pith=strangers-film Keith brought a great energy and eye for detail to sound design for Strangers,' that helped with some critical story aspects of the film which we needed to sell with sound, continues Condit. He was incredibly collaborative and really dove into the story and vision of the Director and helped to solve a couple challenging scenes.

With a huge influx of broadcast and narrative work coming in, we are taking on a lot of sound design opportunities for the Splice team, adds Barb Condit, Splice Partner. We are excited about the growth we will see over the next 12 months, and we're happy to welcome Keith as the newest member of our Audio team.

Sound Designer/Mixer Keith Gettelman began his career working for SCEA (Sony Computer Entertainment of America aka Playstation). He worked with the award-winning music department on the development and implementation of music for such legendary gaming titles as God of War: Chains of Olympus, SOCOM: Confrontation, Warhawk, Guitar Hero for Playstation 3. Gettelman spent almost four years with Target, creating content for Channel Red (retail video network), Target.com, national and international Target spots, internal training videos, Target Racing, national meetings at Target Center, as well as Target Field content. Additionally, since 2007, Gettelman has provided freelance audio work, providing content for the Outdoor & Pursuit Network, independent commercials, as well as post-production for short- and full-length independent films.

Sound has always inspired me, concludes Gettelman. Some of my first memories are of my father playing classical music, at full blast, while driving in one of his sports cars from the 70s. I believe the mix of V8 rumble with Beethoven & Bach made a lasting impression on me that makes Audio an important part of my life. With post-production Audio, the buzz of solving the puzzle is what turns projects into a game that I can't put down, and never makes my job feel like work. I'm extremely happy to join Splice.

Splice is also attached for post-production on Director Eric D. Howell's upcoming feature film, produced by Dean Zanuck and starring Emilia Clarke ( Game of Thrones ), Voice from the Stone. The film begins principal photography this November 2014 in Italy. Under Splice Partner Clayton Condit's supervision, Splice will provide all of the feature film's post-production.
