Dive dive dive! Sky brings Das Boot sequel series to UK shores in autumn 2018

A sequel to classic German film Das Boot - the remarkable tale of a crews' high-pressure and claustrophobic life aboard a WWII German U-boat - will premiere on Sky Atlantic in autumn 2018.

The eight-episode sequel to the epic 1981 movie, based on the bestselling novel by Lothar-G nther Buchheim, is a Sky Original Production and co-produced by Bavaria Fernsehproduktion, Sky Deutschland and Sonar Entertainment, and will air across all five of Sky's European territories; the UK, ROI, Germany, Austria and Italy. It will feature a renowned international cast including; Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex), August Wittgenstein (The Crown), Vicky Krieps (Colonia Dignidad), Jonathan Zaccai (Robin Hood), Leonard Scheicher (Finsterworld), Robert Stadlober (Summer Storm), Franz Dinda (The Cloud) and Stefan Konarske (The Young Karl Marx).

The series will be directed by eminent filmmaker Andreas Prochaska, whose credits include Das finstere Tal (The Dark Valley) and Das Wunder von K rnten (A Day for a Miracle), which was awarded the International Emmy. Prochaska's further accolades include the Deutsche Filmpreis (German Film Award), the Romy, and the Bayerische Fernsehpreis (Bavarian Television Award). Tony Saint (Margaret Thatcher: The Long Walk to Finchley, The Interceptor) and Johannes W. Betz (Der Tunnel, Die Spiegel-Aff re) are the head writers. Executive Producers are Moritz Polter (Spotless, Crossing Lines) and Oliver Vogel (Dengler, SOKO Stuttgart) for Bavaria Fernsehproduktion; Marcus Ammon and Frank Jastfelder for Sky; and Jenna Santoianni (Taboo, The Shannara Chronicles) for Sonar Entertainment.

Filming for the pan-European production starts in August 2017 in La Rochelle (France), Prague, Malta and Munich.
