kykNET 2015 Silwerskerm Film Festival call for entries --

kykNET is presenting an opportunity to celebrate the growth and diversity of the South African film industry at its annual Silwerskerm Film Festival.
Over the past five years the Silwerskerm Film Festival has become a respected festival within the local film industry. The festival not only aims to provide broader exposure for South African films, but also creates an opportunity for both established and aspirant filmmakers to take part in lively dialogue and debate during the festival. It is through these opportunities that the Silwerskerm Film Festival strives to encourage innovative collaborations between artists and in so doing, to nurture and embrace the future of the South African film industry.
The festival encourages all passionate filmmakers to enter their original short film concepts, or to utilise the opportunity to showcase their existing work. Although all short film concepts must be in Afrikaans, the festival accepts entries in any official South African language in the Existing Films category. Filmmakers whose short film concepts make it to the final round of the competition will receive R150 000 to produce and deliver their films to kykNET. Their film will enjoy its official premi re at the festival and be eligible to win the official festival prizes (Best Short Film, Best Short Film Screenplay). All of the commissioned short films will also be broadcast on kykNET (DStv Channel 144).
All entries for the 2015 Silwerskerm Film Festival must be submitted online. To submit your entries visit the kykNET website.
The closing date for short film concept entries is 30 March 2015 and 24 April 2015 for Existing Works.
This year s festival will again take place in Camps Bay from 26 to 29 August 2015.
