Camerimage Film Festival Reveals Juries for nd Annual D Films Competition

CAMERIMAGE, the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography, has assembled a distinguished roster of esteemed individuals from the world of cinema to serve as jurors in its 3D Films Competition category. The popular 3D Films Competition returns for the second year to the Festival, which takes place November 15th - 22nd in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

The 3D Films Competition aims to create dialogue about the ways 3D can enrich visual storytelling and the technologys role within the future of cinema. The category is organized by Camerimage and International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society, the organization consisting of more than 1,800 professional members in over 20 countries around the world, whose task is to advance the creative arts and sciences of stereoscopic 3D and 4K.

Jury members of the 3D Film Competition consist of industry members actively working within the 3D industry using the various technologies available for their projects. The notable jury members include:

Jim Chabin, President of International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society, previously served as President of The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (Prime Time Emmys). Over the last seven years, Chabin has logged over one million air miles to host, market, or executive produce more than 100 events all over the world including Hollywood, New York, Dubai, Singapore, Sydney, Buenos Aires, Vienna, Athens, Mumbai, London, Moscow and Berlin.

Barry Sandrew, Ph.D. is a member of International 3D & Advanced Imaging Societys Board of Governors. He is an internationally recognized visual effects pioneer and digital imaging expert with more than 14 VFX patents and 23 years of feature film and TV experience. Dr. Sandrew founded Legend3D, Inc., one of the leading 3D conversion companies and was founder of the pioneer colorization company American Film Technologies. Prior to working in feature film production, he was a staff neuroscientist at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Phil Capt 3D McNally recently joined Condition One as a Stereoscopic VFX supervisor. Prior to Condition One, he was in charge of all things stereoscopic for Dreamworks Animation where he worked on award-winning 3D releases including Turbo, The Croods, Madagascar 3, Puss in Boots, How to Train Your Dragon and Monsters vs Aliens.

Markus Lanxinger is a Stereographer / Stereoscopic Supervisor with extensive work experience in Stereoscopic 3D ranging from Hollywood productions such as Transformers: Age of Extinction and The Amazing Spiderman to projects in emerging markets (India, Thailand, Hong Kong, China).

Steve Schklair has been producing at the front edge of new technologies for most of his career. He has left a significant mark in movies, special effects and in interactive media. Prior to 3ality Digital, the company he founded and is currently working in, Schklair was a senior executive at Digital Domain during the production of such films as Apollo 13, The Fifth Element, Titanic, and Terminator 2: 3D.

Grant Anderson is an established producer, visual effects supervisor, and digital artist in the film industry. His career in stereo 3D began with Beowulf 3D and continued as stereoscopic supervisor on Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and The Green Hornet. He recently served as an advisor on Columbia Pictures' The Amazing Spider-Man.

Glen MacPherson is a Canadian-born cinematographer with over 20 years of experience on his slate. He was one of the early adopters of 3D technology, which he fully embraced in films like The Final Destination, Resident Evil: Afterlife, Glee: The 3D Concert Movie, The Three Musketeers, Resident Evil: Retribution, and Pompeii.

In addition to film screenings, the 3D Films Competition will also include meetings and Q&As with jury members and filmmakers who have worked with 3D.
