NETFLIX RENEWS GRACE AND FRANKIE FOR SECOND SEASON

Netflix has renewed the comedy series Grace and Frankie for a second season, set to debut in 2016. The news was revealed tonight on an FYC panel at the Pacific Design Center that included series co-creators and executive producers Marta Kauffman and Howard J. Morris, and series stars Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Martin Sheen.

Let me say, its so awesome to do a show on Netflix, said Marta Kauffman, series co-creator and executive producer, because two and a half weeks after we launched, Miley Cyrus does a tweet about your show, and they call and say, Wed like to do a season two. So yes, there is a season two. We have Ted and Miley to thank.

In Grace and Frankie, Jane Fonda ( Grace ) and Lily Tomlin ( Frankie ) star as two women whose lives are suddenly turned upside down when their husbands reveal they are gay and leave them for each other. Both sparring partners and partners-in-crime, they form an unlikely bond to face an uncertain future together and discover a new definition of family, with laughter, tears and plenty of mood enhancers along the way.

From executive producers Marta Kauffman (Friends) and Howard J. Morris (Home Improvement), the hilarious and heartbreaking comedy takes on aging with gusto from joint pain to joint rolling and blind dates to night blindness and offers a poignant look at how life s turning points show us who we really are. The series also stars Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston, along with Brooklyn Decker, Ethan Embry, Baron Vaughn and June Diane Raphael.

Grace and Frankie is produced by Skydance Television for Netflix. Executive producers for the series are Marta Kauffman (through her company Okay Goodnight), Howard Morris, Paula Weinstein, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Marcy Ross, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin.
