Call for applications to attend IDFA 05

Dear DFA Members and Documentary Filmmakers, You have the opportunity to attend IDFA 2015 as part of the DFA's application to the Department of Trade and Industry's (DTI) Group Export Sector Specific Assistance Scheme (SSAS).

The INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVAL AMSTERDAM (IDFA) is unique for its international film program, the variety of genres, its politically committed program and the many European and world premieres featured each year. Add to that the presence of many filmmakers, sizeable audiences, all the discussions and debates, workshops, master classes and the experienced staff, and its no wonder IDFA is the pre-eminent festival for creative documentaries.

Aside from the festival, IDFA consists of three industry components: the IDFA Fund, the FORUM and Docs for Sale. All of these were established in order to improve the international climate for creative documentaries.

The IDFA Fund offers support to documentary projects and festivals in developing countries, the FORUM is Europes biggest co-financing market for international documentary productions, and Docs for Sale is an international documentary market where buyers, sales agents and distributors can see a selection from the best creative documentaries of the past year. Together, these activities have propelled IDFA to its current, top-ranked status within the world of creative documentary cinema.

IDFA will take place from 18 to 29 November 2015. The delegation will leave South Africa on the 18th of November and depart Amsterdam on the 29th of November. Applicants must be available for the full period and must ensure that their application does not clash with other markets they have committed to or applied to.

Criteria:

Closing date: 3 APRIL 2015 for electronic applications

NO LATE APPLICATIONS will be accepted

All applicants must be DFA members (http://docfilmsa.com/join/)

Membership fees are R300 per annum and proof of payment must be sent with your application. Please note that this also applies to candidates applying via the NFVF

Forms to submit:

A non refundable application fee of R100 - proof of payment to be included in the application

Duly completed & signed application form (available from DTI website)

Company profile as per guide on the application form - this can be done on the application form itself or separately but must be in line with the guidelines set out on the application form

Proof of registration of the enterprise in the form of CIPRO certificate if a CC or (Pty) Ltd

A certified copy of your ID document in the case of a sole proprietor.

Valid tax clearance certificate - at least valid until the end of November 2015

Comprehensive colour brochure/ CD, Photographs or Pictures of the relevant products marketed by the company - at this point a copy or a link is sufficient

Audited Financial Statements or bank statements of at least three months - stamped by the bank

A valid copy of the passport of the representative of the firm to be travelling to the exhibition.

After the DFA board has approved the application, delegates need to pay a non refundable administration fee of R900 - send email proof of payment to thea@docfilmsa.com

The DFA cannot guarantee approval from the DTI.

Once your application has been approved you must courier or deliver original documents within the prescribed period (normally 7 days) to:
